Manchester United cock-up confirms Henrikh Mkhitaryan deal is almost done as player’s shirt is advertised on their official website

MANCHESTER UNITED have dropped a series of clangers by advertising Henrikh Mkhitaryan shirts on their official website.

Swedish superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic has already confirmed today that he will join United after making the announcement through Instagram.

So, is it a case of mistaken identity?

If not, it would appear that Mkhitaryan's move is all but rubber stamped after the Red Devils mistakenly put up the pictures of kits with the Armenian playmaker’s name emblazoned on the back.

Shortly after their mistake, the image was taken down with an error message coming up in its place.

But the cat was already out of the bag, as these images captured by SunSport show.

The website then completely crashed in the aftermath of the cock-up.

But then it amazingly reappeared - and this time with a kid's shirt showing Mkhitaryan's name!

Ibrahimovic shirts were not available for sale on the website, raising the question of whether club shop staff had put up the wrong shirts.

But the fact they even had Mkhitaryan strips prepared for sale suggests that a the transfer is all but completed.

Mkhitaryan, who had also been linked with Arsenal, netted 18 times and provided 25 assists last term for Dortmund as they came second to Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga and German Cup.

They offered Mkhitaryan, 27, a pay rise he wants to take a new step in his career and play in the Premier League – despite the lack of Champions League football at Old Trafford next term.

And Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke this week admitted that a deal is in the offing.

He said: "The situation is now different. Manchester have made a much improved offer.

"In situations like this there are always a lot of different things to consider and in the end at one point we have to make a decision.

"And as we are back in training on Monday we will decide at the weekend. I have contacted the relevant people and we will weigh things up at the weekend.

"And then the board will make the decision, definitely at the weekend."
