MANCHESTER CITY want to swap out-of-favour striker Wilfried Bony in exchange for John Stones – if Everton sell Romelu Lukaku.

Pep Guardiola is looking to step up his pursuit of the England centre-back after missing out on Athletic Bilbao's Aymeric Laporte.

City are now keen to do a deal with Everton of around £20m plus Ivory Coast international Bony for the 22-year-old.

New Toffees boss Ronald Koeman could be interested in the switch if he decided to sell in-demand 23-year-old forward Lukaku.

Bony has struggled to hold down a first-team place at City and has scored just six times in 36 appearances.
