John Terry: Veteran Chelsea defender soaks up the sun on holiday with wife Toni after admitting England’s Euro 2016 exit gave him sleepless night
But it has not been all relaxing for the 35-year-old centre-back, he has also been busy preparing himself for pre-season
JOHN TERRY has been soaking up the sun on holiday, hours after admitting that England crashing out of Euro 2016 had given him a sleepless night.
The devastated Chelsea defender said that the only way of getting over The Three Lions' shambolic exit from the Euros at the hands of minnows Iceland was "smashing the gym" before uploading a snap to his account of him relaxing with his wife Toni on the beach in Portugal.
The veteran Chelsea defender will have a new manager to impress next term, when the Italian Antonio Conte takes over at Stamford Bridge so it is just as well he is already looking ahead to pre-season.
Terry, who won 78 caps for the Three Lions between 2003 and 2012, wrote on Instagram yesterday morning along with a video of him in the gym: "Absolutely gutted for the boys last night. I couldn't sleep so I went and smashed the gym this morning getting ready for pre season."
It had looked like last season was going to Terry's last at Chelsea, the club he joined at 14 years old, but he was handed a one-year contract extension last month.

Terry said at the time: “I am delighted to sign a new contract with the club. Everyone knows I’m Chelsea through and through. I am looking forward to next season under the new manager and hopefully we can make it a successful one. Also, a special mention to the fans for their continued support. You’re the best in the world.”
The Blues have their first pre-season game on July 16, when they face Rapid Vienna, before heading top America to take on Liverpool, Real Madrid and AC Milan.
