Henrikh Mkhitaryan to Manchester United: Borussia Dortmund confirm Jose Mourinho’s United have launched ‘improved’ bid
The Armenian assist-machine, 27, has just one-year remaining on his current deal with the Bundesliga outfit
MANCHESTER UNITED are on the brink of signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan, with Borussia Dortmund confirming Jose Mourinho's United have made a "much improved" bid for the player.
The Armenian assist-machine has one-year left on his current deal with the Bundesliga side, but Dortmund have not been willing to let the player go on the cheap.
The German club had offered Mkhitaryan a pay rise, but now 27, he wants to take a new step in his career and play in the Premier League – despite the lack of Champions League football at Old Trafford next term.
Reports claims that United's "improved" bid for the midfielder is around £26million.
Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke told Sport Bild on Tuesday night: "The situation is now different. Manchester have made a much improved offer. In situations like this there are always a lot of different things to consider and in the end at one point we have to make a decision.
"And as we are back in training on Monday we will decide at the weekend. I have contacted the relevant people and we will weigh things up at the weekend. And then the board will make the decision, definitely at the weekend."
Mkhitaryan, who has also been linked with Arsenal, scored 18 times and had 25 assists last term for Dortmund as they came second to Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga and German Cup.
