Raul Jimenez ‘to make emotional return to Wolves for Tottenham game with striker to attend first game since head injury’

RAUL JIMENEZ is poised to attend his first game since fracturing his skull - an emotional return to see Wolves host Spurs on Sunday night.

The fans' favourite has already as the striker recovers from emergency surgery after colliding with Arsenal's David Luiz on November 29.

And the say the Mexico superstar, 29, will be in a private box at Molineux for the 7.15pm Premier League match

They believe his close friend Jonny will be with him as the Spaniard recuperates from a knee injury suffered in August.

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo is convinced Jimenez can make a full playing comeback at the highest level.

And he admits his 11th-placed team sorely miss the former Benfica and Atletico Madrid targetman, who posted a cosy family picture on Instagram at Christmas.

Santo said: “I will not compare it to other teams but, for us, his absence is terrible. It was a huge blow.

"It’s not just about what he does on the pitch, it’s about what he means for the squad.

“It’s about the confidence the players have in him, the belief that, until the last moment of a game, he will put the ball in the net.

“This takes time but we are overcoming that."

Jimenez's dad is just as positive about his son's future.

He told Mexican outlet Record earlier this month: “Thanks to Raul’s strength, he’s coming forward.

“He’s somehow happy to know of the difficult situation that he’s leaving and that thanks to the good and timely intervention of the doctors in England.

"They did to him what could be done and he’s recovering in good spirits and highly motivated.

“What they told us it that he won’t have any consequences and that it’s all a matter of time before he starts with physical rehabilitation.”
