TUESDAY night was another frustrating one for Frank Lampard and his Chelsea side.

They failed to take advantage of good early possession and lost to a stubborn Wolves side who are struggling in the league.

Chelsea slumped to defeat after conceding a late goal - and you cannot say they deserved anything more.

Wolves deserved the win from their second-half display, with Chelsea at fault for not killing off the game in the first 45 minutes.

Unfortunately for Lampard, only one of his creative sparks was at it - and it has now been the same for the last two matches.

Christian Pulisic had a good game in Chelsea blue and he was behind anything good they did, particularly in the first half.

But for the second game running, the same thing cannot be said about Chelsea’s two new German internationals, Timo Werner and Kai Havertz.

The latter looks short on confidence and plays with a fear to try anything, or take any risks.

He has come under some premature criticism from some Chelsea fans who are writing him off already - which I believe is a mistake and rather unfair.

However, Monday night's performance is only going to fuel further criticism and he really needs to come out of his shell soon and start putting in the performances we know he can.

But Havertz is still only 21 and arrived in a new league in a new country - the fans must be patient.

It is a similar story with Werner, although he is still being asked to play out of position on the left flank where it just does not suit him at all.

Even still, he is lacking the confidence to try something special or even just something different.

As a result Chelsea have lost two players who are considered creators.

They weren’t the only poor performers... Chelsea had a few of those on the night and it was another off-game for many.

A few of the players need to hang their heads tonight after that poor showing.

When you are a team that controls possession regardless and looks to break a team down, you really need your creators to turn up and do their job.
