Wenger, who made a bit of a gaffe this week by mistaken the Croatian team doctor for new Paris Saint-Germain boss Unai Emery, is believed to be chasing Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette.
The Gunners have already missed out on Jamie Vardy, who elected to stay with Leicester City, and reported target Breel Embolo, who has signed with Schalke.
