Schalke taunt Manchester United and Arsenal after completing signing of Switzerland star Breel Embolo
German club release video mocking attempts of European rivals to capture Basel forward
SCHALKE have taunted Manchester United and Arsenal after completing the £20million transfer of highly-rated Switzerland star Breel Embolo.
United and Arsenal had been chasing the 19-year-old forward who has attracted the attention of a host of Europe's top clubs playing for Basel.
But Bundesliga club Schalke have beaten everyone to the punch by nabbing the teenager - and immediately released a video mocking their rivals for his signature.
In confirming the deal, the German side tweet footage of club crests of all the clubs who had tried and failed to sign Embolo.
United, Arsenal and Barcelona are among the clubs they say were in for the forward, only for him to choose Schalke instead.
The Gunners has shown the first interest after Embolo's displays for Swiss club Basel marked him out as a talent for the future.
And Bundesliga club Wolfsburg also lodged an official bid once it became clear Spanish giants Barcelona were also interested in the teenager.

But it was United who thought they had the best chance of securing a deal having made contact at the end of the season as they look to rebuild the squad at Old Trafford.
Only last week it was believed they had stolen a march on everyone else and were confident of making him a United player.
But Schalke made a surprise move under the radar of everyone else, and once Switzerland exited Euro 2016b on penalties to Poland on Saturday they wasted no time getting the deal done.
Embolo struggled to make much impact on the tournament, but he is still regarded as one of the best young players in Europe by many observers.
