Leipzig are busy preparing for their first ever season in the top flight, just seven years after they were founded.

But it is thought Oxford is keen to stay in England, which will please the likes of Newcastle United, Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal, who are all keeping tabs on the player.

Championship newcomers Newcastle are keen to take the England Uner-19s defender on a season-long loan deal to inspire them to bounce back to the Premier League at the first attempt.

Jose Mourinho is also thought be keen to add Oxford to his new-look United side, but the centre-back is more likely to get regular first team football on Tyneside.

Whoever signs Oxford may not get him on the cheap though as he was said to have wanted £40,000-a-week and a £1million signing-on fee to commit his future to the Hammers.

However, the star recently denied he had turned down a new deal from the east London club.

Oxford, who can also play in midfield, became West Ham's youngest-ever player when he made his debut in a Europa League first qualifying round match against FC Lusitanos at Upton Park in July 2015.

Just a month later he became the second youngest Premier League starter of all time, behind Jose Baxter, when he was in West Ham's XI for their opening League game of the 2015/16 season at Arsenal.
