Goal-shy Adam Lallana is confident he can finally break his England goal-scoring duck
So far Liverpool midfielder has fired blanks in 26 internationals but he reckons that elusive first goal is well and truly on radar
ADAM LALLANA is confident he'll break his England goal scoring duck - and soon.
So far the Liverpool midfielder has not found the net in 26 internationals.
A couple of good chances went begging in the Euro 2016 group games against Russia and Slovakia.
In fact, it looked as though the former Southampton man was bang in the money in the first half of the goalless draw with Slovakia but his fierce volley was well saved.
However, Lallana's confidence is far from dented.
He said: "Obviously I'd liked to have maybe got a goal in definitely the first game. I had a couple of chances on Monday as well, the keeper made a good save.
"I feel if I keep working hard, it will come."
Lallana has been an impressive performer for England so far with some hard work and clever play, but his game would benefit from the odd goal or two.

During his first two seasons with Liverpool Lallana has found the net six and seven times respectively. Given he plays so high up the field for such an attack-minded team, he might be expected to reach double figures for his club every season.
England's lack of goals has been a problem so far as they failed to breach Slovakia's defence despite having large parts of the play, and they toiled to get a lead against Russia before surrendering it late on. Their winner against Wales came late in the day.
As a result, there could be one or two looking at Lallana and questioning his place in the side if he is not providing much of a goal threat.
