WALES' dream Euros debut almost turned into a nightmare for four blundering Welshmen.

The pals had been planning a trip to Bordeaux to watch the game against Slovakia for months.

But as they were about to fly to France, they realised they were heading for the wrong Bordeaux - more than 500 MILES from the stadium.

Fortunately Gruffydd Evans, Jack Roberts, Liam Kennedy and Iolo Jones managed to arrive just in time to watch Gareth Bale and Hal Robson-Kanu earn a 2-1 victory.

Liam, 23, who now lives in Cardiff , said: "We all live in different places so one guy made all the arrangements and booked the hotel.

"So it wasn't until we were flying from Manchester Airport to Toulouse that we realised the mistake.

"During our last minute checks upon our arrival at Toulouse International Airport we found to our horror that our hotel was actually located just outside a village in the Alps called Bourdeaux almost 700km away from our intended destination and with only 600 inhabitants.

"We were left with an agonising decision – lose all our money on the hotel and go on to (real) Bordeaux or miss out on the biggest occasion in our country’s footballing history by being on the wrong side of the country.

"We of course chose our country and found last-minute accommodation in the centre of Bordeaux to the amusement of all that we’ve told the story to.

"We had tickets for right behind the goal and it was an incredible night. We also had a very quick geography lesson on the night.

"If Wales progress to the quarter finals I think we would try and go out again but that would be in Paris – and we have checked that there is definitely only one of those."

Wales play Russia tomorrow night aiming to bounce back from their narrow 2-1 defeat against England.
