England striker Jamie Vardy dreams his fairytale season will end with a Paris kiss
Leicester's Euro 2016 hero is so delighted Three Lions' success means he's writing new chapters for upcoming autobiography
JAMIE VARDY hopes his latest Hollywood-style script ends with a romantic kiss in Paris.
England’s strike star wrote a new chapter for his forthcoming autobiography after scoring against Wales.
And with a film set for production next year on the Leicester champion’s rise to stardom, Vardy would love to see it end as he plants a smacker on the European Championship trophy at the Stade de France on July 10.
Vardy, 29, who was playing non-league football just four years ago, said: “Let’s just hope that travelator keeps on going up.
“We know we’ve got a lot of ability in that squad. If you go into a tournament thinking that you’re not going to do anything, you might as well not be there because you won’t achieve anything.
“You’ve always got to put your sights to the max and, hopefully, keep progressing until you get there.
“There’s no point being afraid of teams. You’ve just got to go out there with the mindset that whoever you’re up against, you can beat them.
“Anyone’s beatable, it’s as simple as that. That’s the mindset we need and hopefully we’ll take it into games.”
After scoring the equaliser against Wales on Thursday, Vardy got a text message from Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri reminding him his fairytale year is still going strong.
His Euros strike went with his title medal, scoring in a record 11 consecutive Premier League games — plus getting married.
And, of course, it arrived with Ranieri desperately trying to keep him at the King Power and away from Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.
Vardy revealed: “He messaged me and said, ‘Congratulations, champ’.” Vardy’s wedding during the warm-up friendlies meant he was denied the chance to stake his claim for a starting place with goals against Australia.
But his goal put himself in the mix for a start against Slovakia tomorrow.
He said: “I had to make a wedding cancellation the year before when I first got called up.
“And the boss said because I had changed it three times before this tournament as well, I was fine to go and get married. It wasn’t like I was going to have a full week off and then come back and start my fitness again.
“It was simple — get married, spend the next day with my wife and then join up with the squad again. The honeymoon will probably have to wait until next year.”
Vardy says his book is aimed at fans who do not know his rags-to-riches story, from being released at Sheffield Wednesday to working his way up via non-league Stocksbridge Park Steels.
Every jump has been big but he feels he will always get chances no matter what level he is playing at.
Vardy said: “I don’t think anyone can think they’ll score against anyone, not every time.
“But you have got the confidence — especially with the season I’ve had — that if you get enough opportunities they are going to go in.
