But in a special event at London’s Jewish Community Centre, he admitted the thought of leading his country could cause a change of mind.

Becks said: “So many people have turned round to me and said ‘why don’t you want to be an England manager in five years, ten years?’

“That might change at some point in the future. I might wake up one morning and think ‘Maybe I could be a good manager’.”

Beckham called England’s 1-1 draw with Russia in their opening Euro 2016 match “disappointing”.

But he was far more inspired by Jose Mourinho’s move into the manager’s chair at his old club Manchester United.

The former Old Trafford No 7 added: “I think it’s perfect, personally. I’ve always loved Mourinho as a manager.

“I’ve loved his character, he’s great for the Premiership.

“It’s great to see him as a United manager.”
