Manchester United line up medical for Zlatan Ibrahimovic as Old Trafford move inches closer

Strike ace to undergo medical tests after Red Devils agree one-year 250,000-a-week deal that will be signed off after Euros

MANCHESTER UNITED believe they have Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the bag and are already planning for medical.

The superstar striker is expected to sign a one-year deal worth £250,000 a week with the Old Trafford club after Euro 2016.

But United have been forced to wait to clinch his signature with Ibrahimovic in France for Sweden’s European Championship campaign, having teased fans with suggestions that his next move will be a ‘surprise’.

But Sky Sports reporter Andy Burton – who broke the news when Jose Mourinho was confirmed as the new Red Devils’ boss – says that .

Mourinho had hoped to wrap up a move for former Paris Saint-Germain striker Ibrahimovic before the Euros but time ran out on the Portuguese.

And they are set to be be reunited, once Sweden – who won his 114th Sweden cap in the 1-1 draw with Republic of Ireland in their opening game – are finished with Euro duty.

Both United and Ibrahimovic, who is presented by Paul Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola, are believed to be cool on the amount of time that is has taken to rubber stamp a deal and get medical tests done.

Those are expected to be a formality, with Ibrahimovic in good shape and possessing a game that has never been reliant upon pace.

He said ahead of the Euros: “I am just warming up. I had a great season, a fantastic season so I proved age is just a number.

“Everything is in your head. Everything you want to do, you do. If I want to make it, I will make it. If I want to do it I will do it. I am not worried.”

On the prospect of working with Mourinho again, he added: “I think it is a great move [for United]. If you want action, you bring Mourinho.

“I had a fantastic time with him, when I was working with him. Working again with him… when I left Inter I said we had a short time together.

“I had a great time. If we will work together again I don’t know. Let’s see how things play out.

“I have spoken with him every day since I left Inter. That is no secret. I have a great relationship with Mourinho and we are in contact but not in this week.
