Midfielder Havertz, who can also play off the right flank, has caught the eye for Bayer Leverkusen - netting 29 goals in the last two Bundesliga seasons.

It is believed that he snubbed Bayern Munich - because he thought he'd be joining Real Madrid.

But when it became apparent that Los Blancos couldn't afford him in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, Chelsea pounced to convince him to move to Stamford Bridge instead.

While he may have initially been sceptical, Havertz has been won over by Chelsea's ambitious project.
