Manchester United transfer news: Jose Mourinho already set to axe Italy defender Matteo Darmian
Just 12 months after moving to Old Trafford for £12million under Louis van Gaal the right-back is close to the exit
MANCHESTER UNITED manager Jose Mourinho is ready to ditch Italy defender Matteo Darmian just two weeks after taking over.
According to , the Portuguese is already eager to wield the axe on the full-back signed by Louis van Gaal just 12 months ago for £12million.
After just 39 United appearances the former Torino man looks like being one of the first casualties of Mourinho’s reign.
The 26-year-old defender played for AC Milan for three seasons between 2006-2009 while Mourinho was bossing San Siro rivals Inter between 2008-2010.
But their paths might not cross at all at United’s Carrington training base if the Special One can flog the full-back while the Euros are on.
Tuttosport claims Juventus are the front runner to land the former Palermo man even though Brazil right-back Dani Alves claims he is joining the Old Lady.
The former Barcelona man is a free agent after leaving the Nou Camp after eight trophy-filled seasons.
And while playing for the Samba stars at the Copa America this week he claimed he would be moving to Serie A.
Alves said: “I am always happy, but I am even happier now," Alves said. "I am very happy to join Juventus.
“I want to win in Europe and in Italy.
“I have won a lot of trophies with Barcelona but the time has come to enjoy Italy and to try to bring Juventus back to the top of Europe.”
Max Allegri already has Switzerland right-back Stephan Lichsteiner at his disposal making the task of shipping Darmian out to Juve look even more difficult
