Silva, 35, has had no shortage of potential suitors - despite turning 36 next month.

But according to it is Chelsea that have won the race for his signature.

The Blues emerged as serious contenders prior to Sunday's final, having been in talks with the centre-back's representatives for a number of days.

And having beaten off competition from Fiorentina, Chelsea will secure the 88-cap defender on a two-year contract.

Following the 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich, a dejected Silva tweeted: "It was my last match in Paris.

"I'm sad. I apologise to the supporters. I thank all the fans for their love."

With Silva signing on the dotted line, young defender Fikayo Tomori could be given the green light to go out on loan for the 2020-21 season.

The 22-year-old impressed in his breakthrough campaign at Stamford Bridge, but failed to add to his 22 appearances post-lockdown.

Tomori could move to Ligue 1 - although Everton are also interested in securing a loan move.

Meanwhile at Stamford Bridge, forgotten man Tiemoue Bakayoko could head back out on loan to AC Milan.

And out-of-favour left-back Emerson Palmieri could follow the Frenchman to Serie A with former boss Antonio Conte's Inter.
