That is looking more and more likely with West Ham four points clear of the bottom three, thanks in part to the shock 3-2 win over Chelsea.

Should they stay in the top flight then Moyes is expected to be given the time and money to reinforce the squad.

And near the top of his list are the two United boys.

Both were at the club when Moyes succeeded Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013 - before being sacked just 10 months later.

The Scotsman is said to like centre-back Jones, 28, in particular.

England defender Jones has found game time hard to come by with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer preferring the pairing of Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire at the back.

But he could cost quite a bit having just last year signed a new four-year deal.

Similarly, Lingard, 27, is reportedly eager to remain with the club despite registering no goals or assists in 20 Premier League appearances this season.

Both are expected to leave United this summer with boss Solskjaer planning a big clearout.

West Brom and Everton have also been linked with England winger Lingard.

Reports last month claimed he and Alexis Sanchez were to be flogged for around £110m as a means of financing the Jadon Sancho transfer.

It was also claimed the attacker had asked former team-mates Chris Smalling and Ashley Young what life was like in Italy following their successful moves to Serie A.
