And the Swans will bank a similar amount, courtesy of the same small print when Wilfried Bony left them for Manchester in a £28m deal.

Neither man played in Tuesday’s second leg win over Paris Saint-Germain, earning them a semi-final slot, although Sterling is currently out with a groin injury.

But Sterling featured in all six group stage games, and both legs against Dynamo Kiev.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich fitness coach Andreas Kornmayer is leaving the German champions for a similar role at Anfield in the summer.

He replaces Ryland Morgans, who chose to leave recently. Andy O’Boyle has been filling in on a short-term basis until the end of the season.
