According to The Telegraph, the Dutchman’s methods have persuaded at least three players to leave Old Trafford if he lasts past the end of the season.

United’s 3-0 defeat against Tottenham triggered a confrontation between the players and LVG.

The stars were said to be particularly upset with the treatment of teenage sensation and fan favourite Marcus Rashford, who was hauled off at half time.

Van Gaal’s last chance of silverware is the FA Cup and with Champions League qualification looking unlikely, he is clinging on for dear life.

Dutch tactician LVG has been playing people out of position — Ashley Young played as a lone striker against Spurs — and is stubbornly refusing to change his ways.

His tactical approach has also come under fire, with skipper Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick voicing their concerns earlier in the season.

Defender Phil Jones has called the clash with West Ham the “defining game” of United’s season.

Jose Mourinho is waiting in the wings to take over should LVG be axed after two seasons in charge.
