Gabriel Agbonlahor suspended by Aston Villa over shisha pipe reports
Aston Villa’s relegation fight took another hit as the club announced Gabriel Agbonlahor will not play while they are investigating him.
Agbonlahor was on holiday with Villa captain Micah Richards during a break for the relegation-threatened club’s players.
The former England international was snapped with what looks to be a shisha pipe.
Caretaker boss Eric black said: Black said: “There’s an internal investigation. I spoke to David Bernstein at length on Thursday.
“The club have taken that decision. I’ve taken the decision from the footballing side to remove him from the squad just for this game, purely because I don’t want anything to distract the players and their surroundings for the game. I want that to be purely their focus for the Chelsea game.
"I will speak to him again on Monday morning and I will take it from there. He will be back reporting for training on Monday.
“The investigation is to into the things you have seen in the media.
“I won’t go into details because the investigation is still on-going and once those results have come in and the club have made a decision you will find out."
And the club are now looking into the reports and will now be without the 29-year-old for their clash with Chelsea at Villa Park.
Villa are bottom of the Premier League and without a manager after Remi Garde left the club by mutual consent on Tuesday after 147 days in charge.
Earlier this month Agbonlahor sold his plush £3.1m pad amid reports that he was moving to join up with Turkish Super Lig side Kayserispor.
There were rumours that he was kicked out by his long-term partner earlier in the season after she discovered his ex was having his baby.
And he was pictured inhaling nitrous oxide as the partying striker’s behaviour was brought into question by fans.
He was then frozen out by Garde and was notoriously slammed by Gary Neville for only having EIGHT touches in a shocking first half against Tottenham in November.
Agbonlahor is not the first player to get in trouble with Villa chiefs after Jack Grealish was left out of the first team for his behaviour off the pitch — which included being snapped with what looked like nitrous oxide.
