The German prodigy is considered to be the best young talent to emerge from the country since Michael Ballack.

Ballack starred at Leverkusen and Chelsea during an illustrious career and Stamford Bridge bosses are hoping to convince Havertz to follow in his footsteps.

The Blues are optimistic they can get a deal done after SunSport exclusively revealed they had submitted a bid of around £70million for the player.

Leverkusen's strong financial position has led to reports that the club are looking for closer to £90m for their talented attacking midfielder.

as it is believed Havertz favours a move to the Premier League and the two sides may have to find a middle ground in negotiations.

after Manchester United and Liverpool were also linked with a move.

Leverkusen would prefer to keep Havertz in their squad but with European giants circling it appears they will be forced into a sale.

If Havertz does arrive in West London then he is likely to be playing alongside compatriot Timo Werner with a deal for the RB Leipzig forward expected to be confirmed in the coming days.
