France World Cup winner Kante completed day one of Chelsea’s return to training on Tuesday after testing negative for coronavirus.
But it is believed he has concerns over the safety of going back to duty alongside his team-mates full time while England remains in lockdown.
As a result he was allowed to miss Wednesday’s session with the blessing of head coach Frank Lampard and the club.

Kante suffered a health scare two years ago when he fainted in front of his team-mates at Chelsea’s training ground.
Tests showed no heart issues and he has since gone on to enjoy a hugely successful career – winning the World Cup just a few months later in Russia.
But his older brother Niama died of a heart attack and he lost his father when he was just 11 years old.
Lampard and Chelsea allowed Kante to train alone at home today and no date is fixed for him to rejoin his team-mates.
But Chelsea have been hugely supportive of their players during the Covid-19 crisis, allowing several of their foreign stars to return to their homelands while football was on hold completely.
Callum Hudson-Odoi also missed Wednesday’s training session but it is believed he may just be ill.
His condition is not related to coronavirus or his arrest on suspicion of rape last weekend and he has been prescribed a course of medication.
