And it means the club will have a staggering transfer war-chest to entice football's world stars to the Premier League club.

, Uruguay veteran Cavani is just one of the names on the transfer shortlist with his deal at Paris Saint-Germain expiring this summer.

The 33-year-old is braced to leave the French capital at the end of the campaign with club and player failing to agree a contract extension.

Their loss could be Newcastle's gain with Cavani's addition set to spark a new era at St James' Park.

Cavani has enjoyed a hugely illustrious career with five Ligue 1 titles and six domestic medals.

He has scored a staggering 200 goals in 300 appearances in France since his move from Napoli in 2013 to become the club's all-time leading scorer.

When the takeover is complete, Newcastle will be in the hands of the Saudi Arabia Public Investment fund believed to be worth £320billion.

Yasir Al-Rumayyan, a close associate of Saudi royalty Mohammed bin Salman, will become the new chairman which means the spending won't stop there.

A new manager could be on the horizon at the end of the season with Mauricio Pochettino and former Juventus boss Max Allegri linked.

Steve Bruce will reportedly be given the rest of the campaign to prove he is the man to deliver European football before the new owners make a decision.

Poch has been out of work since he was axed as Tottenham manager in November and a return to the Premier League appears to be top of his agenda.

Allegri, 47, has been linked with the top job at St James' Park having been out of work since leaving Juventus at the end of the 2018-19 season.

The odds on the Italian becoming Newcastle’s next manager were recently slashed dramatically by bookies.

And if Allegri does get the chance at the helm, it could pave way for Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal to make the switch to Newcastle.
