Phil Jones

It's no surprise to see error-prone Jones appear on this list.

He has played in fits and spurts, and when he does lace up the boots he hardly inspires confidence in the back line.

Heralded as a wonderkid when he joined from Blackburn for £16m in 2011, he may have collected 27 England caps along the way, but United fans won't be too disappointed to see him go.

The 28-year-old has featured in just TWO Premier League games so far this season.

Jesse Lingard

Unfortunately these days Lingard stirs more excitement on social media that he does on the football pitch.

Back in January Solskjaer appeared to hammer Jesse Lingard during the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Manchester City.

Fans reckon Solskjaer yelled: “One more time and you’re f***ing off”, at the England midfielder.

Unfortunately for the 27-year-old, it was a sure sign of Solskjaer's patience wearing thin.

Andreas Pereira

United fans often take to social media to wonder just what Pereira does to justify getting picked in the starting XI.

The 24-year-old Brazilian has featured in 37 games in all competitions this season, scoring just twice and bagging four assists.

Bruno Fernandes' sparkling form has shown some of the other midfielders' limitations up - Pereira being one.

Chris Smalling

The centre-half was enjoying himself on a loan spell with Serie A giants Roma before the coronavirus decimated Italian football.

It is believed Roma are keen on a permanent deal for the 30-year-old.

report that the star and his family have settled so well that he is even prepared to accept lower wages than he currently receives in order to extend his Italian adventure.

But United want £32m for the 31-cap England international, with Arsenal also believed to be interested.

Alexis Sanchez

Perhaps one of United's biggest flop of a transfer ever.

Fans were elated when Jose Mourinho managed to flog under-achieving midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan to Arsenal in a straigh swap for Sanchez in January 2018.

But the 31-year-old Chilean appeared unfit from the off.

And after 32 Premier games with a paltry return of just THREE goals, Sanchez was shipped out on loan to Inter Milan last summer.

He has only started two games for the Italians, coming off the bench in seven and has scored just once, so where he, and his £450,000-a-week wages go is anyone's guess.
