Real Madrid’s Mbappe transfer put on ice until 2021 but Spaniards can land him for cut-price £132m due to coronavirus

With no football and a huge lack of income, clubs will struggle to fork out to land their transfer targets.

That is no different at Los Blancos who had made the Paris Saint-Germain forward their priority after the player admitted his future could lie elsewhere.

Real have conceded defeat that they won't be able to secure a deal until the end of next season when they have boosted the coffers.

But how they will be encouraged by the fact that his value will continue to drop from £189million to £132m.

That is due to the huge dip in the market over the pandemic and the fact that Mbappe is refusing to extend his contract in Paris.

His current deal ends in 2022 meaning he'll have just one year left on his contract at the end of next summer.

PSG coach Thomas Tuchel also already admitted his chances of keeping Mbappe remain slim following reports of a falling out.

He told reporters: "As a coach, I do want them to continue, but this is football, we are not naive.

"Many clubs want to transfer many players and the market is crazy, but if you ask me, the coach, yes, I want them here next season.

"But if they are not, we will find solutions."

Mbappe meanwhile has spoken of his openness to begin a new chapter in his already illustrious career.

He said: "It's very important moment for me, I come to a turning point in my career.

"I have discovered a lot here, and I feel it is perhaps the moment to have more responsibility.

"I hope that can maybe be at Paris Saint-Germain, that would be a great pleasure, or perhaps elsewhere with a new project."

Mbappe had scored 18 league goals in 17 Ligue 1 starts before the season was disrupted.
