Jadon Sancho ‘excited’ by Man Utd transfer after promise he will be star man in team – even if trophies not guaranteed

JADON SANCHO is 'excited' by the idea of moving to Manchester United after being promised he will be the star man at Old Trafford - even if trophies are not immediately guaranteed.

German journalist Raphael Honigstein has revealed he's heard the idea of heading to Old Trafford is "quite appealing" to England star Sancho.

Sancho, 20, has been the subject of transfer speculation all season, with Man Utd joined by Chelsea in the race for the £100million-rated Borussia Dortmund winger.

But while the Blues' form has been patchy, Sancho will have been buoyed by United's uptick in form lately, coinciding with the arrival of Bruno Fernandes.

Ahead of a crossroads in his career this summer, Honigstein has revealed Old Trafford could be just the place for the former Manchester City youth prospect.

Honigstein said: "Manchester United can't promise titles to [Jadon] Sancho straight away.

"But they can promise him to be the leading star in a new team that is emerging.

"From what I've been told that is quite appealing to him."

Dortmund have given Man Utd the green light to sign Sancho in recent weeks.

However, much will depend on what happens at Old Trafford if and when the 2019-20 season resumes.

United currently sit fifth in the Premier League with 45 points - a staggering 37 adrift of league leaders and fiercest rivals Liverpool.

But with neighbours City banned from the Champions League for two years over Financial Fair Play breaches, fifth place would be enough to qualify for Europe's elite competition.

Sancho is believed to be desperate to remain at a Champions League club - and failing to qualify could be terminal for Man Utd's hopes of signing the Three Lions wiz.

That would be a boost for both Chelsea and Liverpool, who have also registered an interest in the Dortmund star.
