Chelsea star Hudson-Odoi ‘feeling fine and back to usual self’ after coronavirus quarantine and recovery

CHELSEA have revealed Callum Hudson-Odoi has made a full recovery after being struck down with coronavirus earlier this month.

The 19-year-old was the first Premier League player to be diagnosed with the Covid-19 bug that has led to the suspension of the sport until at least April 30.

Chelsea have confirmed Callum Hudson-Odoi has made a full recovery from coronavirus

After announcing he had caught it, the England international took to social media to reveal he was “following the health guidelines and self-isolating myself from everybody”.

Now Chelsea have announced the good news that the teenager is now building up his fitness after overcoming the illness.

A club statement read: “We are pleased to report Callum Hudson-Odoi is now feeling fine and back to his usual self following the period of self-isolation required after the player tested positive for Covid-19.

“In addition to feeling good, the young winger is hard at work training at home to build and maintain his fitness, as are the rest of the Chelsea squad.”

Blues boss Frank Lampard said last week the youngster was recovering well.

He said: “I’m happy to say that in Callum’s case, he has made great progress and almost feels his usual self, which is obviously the news we all want to hear.

“I am of course aware that not everyone can or will recover from this virus, so I urge all of the football and sporting community to continue to act responsibly and look out for the health of others.”

Hudson-Odoi first said after being diagnosed: “As you may be aware I had the virus for the last couple of days which I have recovered from.

“I am following the health guidelines and self-isolating myself from everybody for the week.

“I hope to see everybody soon and hopefully will be back on the pitch very soon.”

The attacker has scored three and provided five assists in 25 matches this season under Lampard.
