Cristiano Ronaldo sends message of ‘solidarity to those fighting coronavirus’ as he is pictured in quarantine at villa

CRISTIANO RONALDO has posted a message of solidarity to those suffering with coronavirus, as well as offering his gratitude to the brave doctors putting themselves on the line to save others.

The 35-year-old is currently in quarantine in his native Madeira alongside girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez - as well as his three siblings, and mother Dolores Aveiro.

And the Portuguese legend took to Twitter to offer his support amid the global pandemic.

He wrote: "The world is going through a very difficult moment which demands the utmost care and attention from all of us.

"I speak to you today not as a football player, but as a son, father, a human being concerned with the latest developments that is affecting the whole world.

Protecting human life must come above any other interests.

"It is important we all follow the advice of WHO (World Health Organization) and the governing bodies on how we handle this current situation.

"I would like to send my thoughts to everyone who has lost someone close to them, my solidarity to those who are fighting the virus, like my teammate Daniele Rugani, and my continued support to the amazing health professionals putting their own live at risk to help save others."

Rugani, 25, shared a dressing room with Ronaldo on Sunday, as Juve defeated Inter Milan 2-0 behind closed doors at the Allianz Stadium.

The Serie A side has confirmed it is “activating all the isolation procedures required by law, including those who have had contact with him.”

Confirming the former Real Madrid striker is staying put and not returning to Italy for the time being, it added: “Cristiano Ronaldo has not trained and remains in Madeira awaiting developments with the current health crisis.”
