CHELSEA are desperate to land youngster Angel Gomes on a free transfer at the end of the season as they look to get one over rivals Manchester United.
United have offered the 19-year-old £25,000-a-week to try to keep him at Old Trafford.
It is understood he is on around £10,000-a-week at the moment.
They did manage to tie both youngsters Tahith Chong and Mason Greenwood to new contracts.
However, there are no signs as of yet that Gomes will follow suit.
Chong signed a two-year extension after previously being linked with a move to Italy.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer spoke to the media about the situation on Wednesday, saying: ''With Tahith we're very happy he sees his future here, we can see a very good player there and we'll give him time to develop.
''That is the same with Angel. We hope we can convince him in the near future and long-term future that he's a Manchester United player.''
The starlet has made only six appearances this season so far, while his teammates Greenwood, Chong and Brandon Williams have all featured much more.
Chelsea have suggested they are willing to match United's contract offer to Gomes.
But perhaps what is more important to him is the assurance that they will also allow him to play as part of their first team next season.

Another plus for England youth international Gomes and his agents is the fact that under Lampard, Billy Gilmour, 18, has flourished as part of the first team and it could be a glimpse of what is also in the pipeline for the young star.
Chelsea wonderkid, Gilmour, won man of the match as he put in a stellar performance against Premier League leaders Liverpool, as the Blues knocked them out of the FA Cup on March 3.
