Cardiff owner Vincent Tan flogs half of his stake in LAFC to concentrate on Bluebirds

CARDIFF CITY owner Vincent Tan has offloaded half his stake in Los Angeles FC to focus on his dream of the Bluebirds returning to the Premier League.

A group within LAFC paid the Malaysian billionaire around £55million for his shares and plan to buy the rest of his stake.

The say Tan’s 20 per cent share in the MLS club has now been halved as he concentrates on helping mid-table Championship side Cardiff return to the top-flight.

Western Conference champions LAFC have ex-Arsenal striker Carlos Vela, 31, and former Southampton frontman Bradley-Wright-Phillips, 34, in their squad.

And the reveal the club has just been valued at an MLS record of nearly £550m ($700m).

Tan is thought to be scaling back his footballing portfolio ready for a promotion push next term.

And report that sources close to him have dismissed claims he considered taking over Spanish second-tier side Malaga.

But he still owns Belgian First Division side KV Kortrijk and Bosnian League leaders FK Sarajevo.

Cardiff have twice reached the Prem in the last six years but went straight back down both times.

Now ex-Millwall chief Neil Harris, who replaced Neil Warnock as Bluebirds’ manager last November, will hope to get a decent war-chest in the summer transfer window.
