HARRY KANE has kicked off his on-field rehabilitation to hand Tottenham and England a massive boost - with an April comeback on the cards.

The Spurs star, 26, has got down to the serious work following a hamstring tear on New Year's Day, the club have revealed.

Kane was expected to be ruled out of this summer's Euro 2020 tournament, but could now return in six weeks - just as SunSport revealed earlier this week.

On Friday, Tottenham confirmed: "[Kane has] “commenced on-field rehabilitation."

A return in early-to-mid-April would allow the striker to get back to action for his side's run-in, with Tottenham still desperately pursuing a European berth.

That's even better news for Gareth Southgate, as it will afford Kane the chance to get back to match fitness ahead of the Euros.

But sounding more optimistic, Mourinho revealed on Friday: “I would say he is a little bit ahead [of schedule].

"It gives me a hope of, instead of one or two matches, he might now play three, four or five.

“He's doing what he can do at this stage but always with a good feeling.

"Sometimes follow protocol and some setbacks because of not the best feeling on this action or that movement.

"But everything is going well. He's having very good feelings. So positive, yeah.”

Asked if he had pencilled in a date for Kane’s comeback, Mourinho said: “No. When he was injured, I told you, forget him for the season.

"Then I told you one or two games - Crystal Palace or Leicester.

“At the moment, I have better hopes than that so hopefully that feeling is right and he can help us in the last part of the season.”

Kane needed an operation to fix the ruptured tendon in his leg and Tottenham said they didn't expect him to return to training until at least mid-April.

The England skipper has been training by himself in recent weeks, recently posting videos of his rehab.

But returning to the training ground is a huge step in his comeback for both club and country.
