Max Allegri puts Man Utd on alert as ex-Juventus boss vows to return to management in September and not with PSG
MASSIMILIANO ALLEGRI has put Europe's top clubs on alert by announcing that he will be back in work come September.
One such interested party could be Manchester United, who have frequently been linked with the Italian in the past.
There is no immediate indication that current manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is to be sacked - but that could change come the end of the season if the Red Devils fail to qualify for next season's Champions League.
And should the Norwegian be given the boot, former AC Milan and Juventus boss Allegri would be a major contender for the job.
The 52-year-old has been out of work since leaving the Old Lady last summer, but has revealed that he is desperate to get back into the dugout by the start of next season.
At the launch of his book in Paris, he said of his future: "There is nothing with PSG. I am in Paris just to present my book.
"I am not here to talk about my future because I don't know my future but I know that in September I must necessarily go back to training otherwise I get too used to being on vacation."
JUVE RETURN?
Allegri was recently linked with a sensational return to Juventus amid pressure piling on his replacement Maurizio Sarri.
But the Italian poured cold water on the idea, and has previously admitted that he is learning English - with a Premier League job on the horizon.
Manchester United will be seven years without a league title come the summer - something that seemed unthinkable during the Sir Alex Ferguson era.
So a prolific title winner in the shape of Allegri could appeal to the Red Devils hierarchy.
The in-demand coach has won six Serie A titles - including five in a row with Juventus.
United, meanwhile, are currently sat in seventh, three points behind Chelsea in the much-coveted fourth Champions League place.

Another route to qualification that could save Solskjaer's job could be through winning the Europa League.
But they'll have to improve drastically on last night's 1-1 draw with Club Brugge if they are to do so.
Anthony Martial levelled for the Red Devils in their round of 32 first leg away in Belgium, but his side toiled against their energetic Pro League opponents.
