Chelsea loanee Conor Gallagher claims he reduced his family to tears with first Charlton goal
CHELSEA youngster Conor Gallagher has revealed his family burst into tears when he scored his first Charlton goal.
The 20-year-old is now on loan with Swansea after the Blues recalled him from the Addicks in January.
But having taken time to settle in at a new club after such a long time at Chelsea, the midfielder said it was all too much for his supportive family when he notched Charlton's third in a 3-1 home win against Stoke in August.
Speaking to Chelsea's official website he said: "The first day I had to go to Charlton, it was a little daunting going on loan because it’s not what I’m used to.

"I have been used to driving into Cobham every day for so many years.
"Walking into the dressing room there, it was loud!
"There was a lot of people I didn’t know but you soon settle in and hearing the crowd chanting when you’re in the tunnel is so exciting.
"I soon settled straight in and was made to feel really welcome by everyone at Charlton.
"I think we were only a couple of games in when I first heard the fans chanting my name.
"That was such an amazing feeling and when I scored my first goal, it was just amazing.
"It was the best feeling I’ve had in my career and I had my parents and my brother at the game.
"When it went in, they started crying.
"It’s a feeling you just can’t describe, it’s incredible and it gives you the appetite for more."
Gallagher managed six goals and four assists for Charlton in the five months he spent there.
And manager Lee Bowyer admitted he was gutted to have to let him go.
He said: "I’m disappointed. I didn’t see this coming if I’m honest, which makes it harder to take.
"At the end of the day, though, we have to move on.
“He’s been a credit and a pleasure to work with.

"He’s come in and put his body on the line every single day. He’s scored us goals and helped us win games.
“For someone so young, he’s a great talent to work with, and I wish him all the best for his future."
Gallagher has so far managed one assist from four appearances for the Swans since his arrival.
