Jose Mourinho chasing Leicester flop Islam Slimani in shock January transfer move for Tottenham
TOTTENHAM are reportedly set to make a shock move for Leicester flop Islam Slimani.
Jose Mourinho is desperate to recruit a striker this month with star man Harry Kane ruled out until April with a hamstring injury.
Spurs are working through possible targets, and the 31-year-old's name has cropped up as the French market is scoured.
Slimani is on a season-long loan at Monaco after struggling throughout his time with Leicester.
He joined the Prem side for a then club-record £29million back in 2016, and scored only 13 goals in 46 games.
But the Algerian has managed to pick up some form in Ligue 1 and has scored seven goals in 11 games.
PIATEK MOVE OFF
Aston Villa could also be plotting a move with targetman Wesley ruled out for the season.
One player who Tottenham look to have missed out on is AC Milan's out-of-favour striker Krzysztof Piatek.
The North London side wanted to bring in the 24-year-old in on loan, but Milan were only interested in a permanent deal.
Spurs are struggling in the aftermath of the prolific Kane being ruled out for three months.
KANE GOES UNDER KNIFE
There are also fears the 26-year-old could miss England's Euro 2020 campaign.
He had surgery on his hamstring last weekend.
But a sports medicine specialist is more optimistic - insisting that Kane can potentially start light training in nine weeks.
"No-one else in Europe does more of these operations that Fares Haddad.
“Of course there is always a small risk of post-op complications, and the first four weeks can be quite tiresome in the brace but thereafter it should be a relatively straightforward rehab process."
