NIASSE TO MEET YOU

Leeds offered Everton’s Oumar Niasse on loan as Marcelo Bielsa blasts Arsenal for recalling Eddie Nketiah

LEEDS UNITED have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Everton misfit Oumar Niasse on loan until the end of the season.

Boss Marcelo Bielsa is keen to recruit a striker after seeing back-up loanee Eddie Nketiah recalled by parent club Arsenal this month.

claim that Toffees chiefs are trying to offload their 29-year-old forward, whose contract is up at the end of the season, on the Elland Road club.

Niasse was summoned from the bench by Carlo Ancelotti with 16 minutes remaining in today's 1-1 draw with West Ham United.

But that was just the Senegal international's second appearance of the season.

This would be the third time that Niasse has been farmed out by Everton since his £16million move from Lokomotiv Moscow in 2016.

His loan spells have had mixed success, however.

The first, a fruitful spell at Hull City, saw him bag five goals in 19 appearances for the Tigers.

Last season, however, he failed to get off the mark in 13 Premier League outings for Cardiff City.

Leeds are desperate for a forward to ease the workload of regular starter Patrick Bamford though - and have also been linked with Che Adams and Jarrod Bowen.

The Whites have seen their squad trimmed this month by Nketiah's return to Arsenal, as well as Jack Clarke being re-summoned by Tottenham Hotspur.

Neither North London club was happy with the lack of playing time awarded to the pair by Bielsa.

But the bespectacled Argentine hit back at the criticism this week.

He said: "About these new players in the team: I have done all the explanations, given all the information, the unfair treatment of Arsenal and Nketiah.

"When they choose Leeds, they thought a lot about it. They chose us over the other options they had.

"We did everything we said we were going to do. So, we have nothing to claim ourselves.

"The same with Clarke. In this moment we don’t have those two players and the club is going to do all that is possible to resolve the situation."
