Andre Gomes trains at Finch Farm for first time since horror ankle break as Everton star steps up recovery from injury

ANDRE GOMES has stepped up his recovery from his horror ankle break after returning to the club’s training complex for the first time.

The Portuguese international has been sidelined since November following the career-threatening injury he suffered against Spurs in November.

Gomes, 26, had to have surgery to repair a fracture-dislocation after his collision with Son Heung-min.

He has since undergone rehab in his native Portugal but returned to Finch Farm as his road to recovery continues.

Gomes was put through a series of individual exercises under the watchful eye of fitness coaches.

The light session has been designed to ease the former Barcelona man back into a training program with no reason to rush his recovery.

Exercises included spending time on the bike and lifting weights.

Gomes also got to meet team-mates inside the dressing room including Tom Davies who embraced his arrival.

Last week manager Carlo Ancelotti revealed Gomes’ recovery is “going fast.”

He said: “Andre Gomes can come back next week and start to train individually here.
