WEST HAM want Brazilian striker Gabigol to fire them to Premier League safety.

The Hammers were tracking the 23-year-old last year but ended their interest because then boss Manuel Pellegrini did not see him as his type of player.

But new manager David Moyes is open to the idea if Inter Milan agree a £20million fee.

They could face competition from Chelsea, who are cooling their interest in Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho as they prioritise a striker.

Gabigol, real name Gabriel Barbosa, is on loan at Brazilian club Flamengo, where he has scored 25 goals in 29 games.

He played a key part in his side's stunning Copa Libertadores victory back in November.

With Flamengo trailing for most of the match, Barbosa scored twice late on to seal the historic triumph.

He also impressed on loan with Santos and would be keen on a Premier League move.

Moyes is aware he needs more attacking threat, with Sebastian Haller his only real option up front.

Michail Antonio can play there but has fitness concerns.

The Hammers are also interested in Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud on a short term deal.
