‘Awful’ Luke Shaw hammered by Man Utd fans as it emerges he is best paid full-back in world… triple Andy Robertson
LUKE SHAW will want to forget New Year’s Day in a hurry after his performance during Manchester United’s 2-0 defeat at Arsenal.
And fans online were quick to jump on his back with many calling him “awful” and questioning his whopping £190k-a-week wages – which is more than three times that of Liverpool’s Andy Robertson.
After Brandon Williams impressed against Burnley, Shaw, 24, who played the whole game at left-back, was lucky to start ahead of him in North London.
But he was run ragged by Nicolas Pepe, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette as Arsenal’s front three showed what they are capable of.
First-half goals from Pepe and Sokratis gave the Gunners all three points and United fans online were not pleased with Shaw at all.
The Englishman seemed to be on his heels for much of the game and left many United fans fuming after the match.
Adam Buick tweeted: “Luke Shaw is awful and about a stone overweight.”
And Anesh chipped in with: “Luke Shaw should never wear that shirt again, absolutely awful performance.”
Claire Young also got straight to the point by tweeting: “Luke Shaw was awful tonight, no urgency with him! Bloody woeful!”
While most fans were concentrating on Shaw’s Arsenal performance, others were shocked to learn how much he earns in comparison to Liverpool’s table topping left-back Robertson.
Shaw rakes in a staggering £190k-a-week having signed a new deal in October 2018 to make him the highest paid full-back in the world.

Yet Robertson earns just £60k-a-week having put pen to paper on a five-year-deal in January 2019.
The left-back was not the only United player to come in for stick with Harry Maguire and Jesse Lingard particularly disappointing.
But Shaw – who has played a full game just six times out of United’s 21 Premier League matches this season and kept just one clean sheet from those – got the brunt of it.
