Chelsea team of the decade revealed with Petr Cech in goal, Frank Lampard in midfield – and controversially Willian
CHELSEA supporters have named their team of the decade - including Petr Cech and Frank Lampard with Willian controversially selected in attack.
Hundreds of thousands of fans voted through the club's 5th Stand app with the majority of the side unsurprisingly made up of some Stamford Bridge legends.
But there were a few interesting selections, leaving stars such as Diego Costa, Cesc Fabregas and cult hero John Obi Mikel overlooked.
Petr Cech
Cech played a huge role for Chelsea in the first half of the decade before being replaced by Thibaut Courtois in the 2014/15 season.
His heroics in the Champions League final, saving penalties from Ivica Olic and Bastian Schweinsteiger in the shootout, cemented his place in Blues history.
Now back at the club as technical and performance adviser.
Branislav Ivanovic
There is no place for Cesar Azpilicueta at right-back in this side - because Ivanovic pipped him to the spot with his rock-solid defending.
He may have been suspended for the final in Munich but made up for it with his winning header against Benfica in the Europa League the following year.
Gary Cahill
Cahill spent three-quarters of the decade at Chelsea - and for most of that he was right at the heart of Chelsea's defence.
He won the lot with the Blues, both in England and on the continent, and was given the task of succeeding John Terry as captain of the club, but did it admirably.
John Terry
Quite possibly the easiest decision for Chelsea fans to make as they named their captain, leader, legend in the back four.
JT led the club to three Prem titles, two FA Cups, the League Cup, Europa League and Champions League in the 2010s, donning his full kit to lift the 'Big Ears' trophy. The less said about his 26th-minute guard of honour the better.
Ashley Cole
Cole may have only had four of the ten years this decade at Chelsea but is the obvious selection at left-back, with Marcos Alonso not coming close.
He was named players' player of the season in 2010, the same year he was voted England player of the year and won five major trophies with the Blues in the decade before leaving for Roma in 2014.

Michael Essien
Another player who arguably was better for Chelsea before the turn of the decade - but Essien gets the nod regardless.
The Ghana international - now with Azerbaijani side Sabail - bossed the midfield for the early part of the 2010s and pips the likes of Fabregas and Mikel.
N'Golo Kante
What a signing Kante has been for Chelsea. After capturing the midfielder from champions Leicester for just £30million in 2016, he has continued to be one of the Prem's best players.
He made it back-to-back league titles in his first season at Stamford Bridge - and picked up the PFA, Football Writers' Association, Premier League and Chelsea players' player of the season to go with it.
Frank Lampard
Super Frank became the club's all-time top goalscorer in the decade and was released by the Blues in 2014 with a grand total of 211 strikes.
He captained the club on that famous night in Munich and returned to Stamford Bridge in the summer to become head coach. Another easy choice.
Willian
Arguably the most contentious of all in this XI, Willian is included despite still dividing opinions in West London.
He signed for Chelsea instead of Spurs in 2013 and his 57 goals in more than 300 appearances have helped Chelsea to two Premier Leagues, the FA Cup, the Europa League and the League Cup.
Didier Drogba
Move over Diego Costa, Drogba is leading the line. The Ivorian bowed out of Chelsea in the perfect fashion by scoring the winning penalty in the Champions League final and moving to China.
But two years later he was back and spent one more season with the Blues, winning a fourth Prem crown and the League Cup in his swansong.

Eden Hazard
In terms of sheer talent and prolonged effect, Hazard is surely Chelsea's player of the decade.
He joined the European champions in 2012, scored 110 goals in 352 games, was pivotal in two title triumphs and bowed out by helping the Blues to the Europa League - fully earning his dream move to Real Madrid.
Lit the Premier League up and simply unplayable on his day.
