Clarke, 19, has trained with Leeds for the last time and will not be involved for their games against Birmingham and Preston this week.

Leeds chief executive Angus Kinnear confirmed the news in the matchday programme ahead of the Preston game at Elland Road tonight.

He said: "We thank Jack Clarke for his services and wish him the best in his career as Spurs have confirmed, due to lack of playing time, he will be recalled in the January window."

The midfielder will spend some time working with new gaffer Jose Mourinho but Tottenham want him loaned out to another Championship club before the end of January, according to the .

Clarke was loaned back to Leeds after Spurs signed him permanently for £9million in the summer.

But he has barely been used by Marcelo Bielsa and made his only Championship appearance of the campaign a month ago against Luton.

The same cannot be said for Nketiah, 20, who has played 14 times in the league this season scoring three goals.

Arsenal are also said to be preparing for a recall but Kinnear also addressed those concerns in his notes too.

He added: "I appreciate much speculation still surrounds the future of Eddie Nketiah and although Arsenal have the right to recall him in January, we still believe he can make a huge impact over the remainder of the season at Leeds United.

"Accordingly, we are endeavouring to convince Eddie and the technical team at Arsenal that the coaching environment and profile of the playing opportunity at Thorp Arch and Elland Road is still the best choice for his long-term development."

The young striker could still feature in Leeds' squad tonight for their home game vs Preston.
