Klopp, whose team’s next game will be at Leicester on Boxing Day, said: “When Flamengo go back, and if they win, they will have a proper party - we play Leicester City. Who cares? That is how it is. We cannot make the competition bigger for us but for us it is the most important because it is the only game we play

“The view in Europe is different to the rest of the world and I'd very much like to change that view. Will it change the view in Europe? Probably not. Liverpool fans want us to win, most of the other fans don't really care.

“It is not an advantage or disadvantage but the situations are different from Flamengo and us. Flamengo got sent here with a clear order to win it and to come back as heroes, we got told to stay at home and play the Carabao Cup. That is a massive difference.”

Virgil van Dijk could start having missed the 2-1 semi-final win over Monterrey with a virus.Klopp is expecting a tough game against the team who qualified for the final by beating River Plate in the Copa Libertadores final.

Klopp said: “I'm not sure I can judge Brazilian football after watching Flamengo for a couple of hours but I know what we can expect from Flamengo.

“Their play can be direct, they have speed up front, they are cheeky on the wings, they have crosses, they go inside, they shoot and they are pretty much not used to losing games.”

Asked about his impression of Qatar, Klopp said: “I haven’t seen much of Doha. I have seen the hotel, which is nice, training ground, which is nice, ground, which is nice and the people were nice. I cannot say anything negative.

“The reception was good in the first game. It seemed when Mo (Salah) showed up on a screen the stadium went really mad. I saw a lot of red shirts but I wasn't sure if it I was Egypt or Liverpool - we have to find out but I think they support both.

“In the hotel next to us there is a Flamengo party every night. They are really wild partying so I'm not sure they can make the game!”
