‘Shocking’ Granit Xhaka blasted by Jamie Carragher on Sky Sports for Arsenal captain’s lack of effort for West Ham goal
GRANIT XHAKA was slammed as "shocking" by Jamie Carragher for his lack of effort for West Ham's opening goal last night.
The Gunners recorded a shock first win in ten against the hapless Hammers - coming from 1-0 down to win 3-1 at London Stadium.
But until Arsenal's three goals in nine crazy second half minutes, they looked woeful.
Angelo Ogbonna put the Hammers ahead on 38 minutes with an unchallenged shouldered effort that survived a lengthy VAR check.
But ex-Liverpool defender turned pundit Carragher laid into Xhaka in ruthless fashion for appearing to duck out of the challenge with Ogbonna.
Speaking on Sky Sports, he said: "It always seems we have two or three fall guys we attack, some might say it’s bullying, and we always pick out David Luiz.
"But Xhaka here (for the goal) is shocking. He just ducks out of it.
"He may not have got there but do more than that."
"Hit his body, hit his shoulder, just do something."
Ex-Arsenal forward Alan Smith was commentating on the game and thought the same.
He added: "It is a classic Granit Xhaka moment, so lazy."
