Chelsea ‘willing to flog Olivier Giroud for just £6m’ as Inter Milan prepare January transfer bid
CHELSEA are willing to let forward Olivier Giroud leave for as little as £6million as Inter Milan prepare a January bid, according to reports.
Giroud has struggled to cement a place in Frank Lampard's side with Tammy Abraham in fine form. The English forward, who was on loan at Aston Villa last season, has scored 10 goals in the league this season.
The 33-year-old has only played 120 minutes of football in the league this season and has surprised many by being included in the French national team ahead of Anthony Martial.
France manager Didier Deschamps has reportedly told the forward that a move would benefit him but has selected him for the upcoming international matches.
Lampard has chosen Michy Batshauyi as his second choice striker which has meant a serious lack of playing time for the French striker.
With Euro 2020 fast approaching, Giroud will be keen to get first-team action and according to reports, Inter are willing to offer him a 18-month contract to escape his Chelsea struggles.
Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukaku have been the main force for Inter, but Conte was left unimpressed by the lack of depth following the 3-2 defeat to Dortmund. The former Chelsea boss said: "Some important mistakes have been made at the planning stage. We can't play both the Champions League and Serie A with such a small squad."
Martinez has played every game this season and Lukaku has only missed one so Conte will be looking to freshen things up with his system using two forwards.
Giroud has also been linked with a move to the MLS but it is appearing that a move to Italy is his preferred choice.
