Chelsea kids will be good enough to win Premier League in 2 years and are making older players better, says Glenn Hoddle

GLENN HODDLE reckons Frank Lampard’s youngsters will be good enough to lift the Premier League title in two seasons' time.

Stamford Bridge legend Lampard, 41, became Blues manager this summer after a relatively successful year as Derby boss.

But the club’s leading scorer was dealt a blow after Chelsea were handed a two-window transfer embargo by Fifa.

As a result Lampard has put his trust in youth, with Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, Fikayo Tomori and Reece James breaking through as first-team stars.

And ex-Chelsea midfielder Hoddle insisted the Blues' rising stars have league winners written all over them, and have forced the senior players to up their game.

He told Premier League Productions: “They’re a very exciting team to watch.

“I don’t know whether those youngsters would have had a chance without the [transfer] embargo, but they’ve been given a chance.

“The one key thing is, when you put youngsters in they’ve got to be good enough, and these guys are good enough.

“There’s five of them there that I think in two years time they’re going to be ready to win the league.

“I really do feel that there’s a foundation, building blocks there to really go on and become something special.”

Despite Hoddle predicting a bright future for Lampard’s kids, former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho told Sky Sports the Blues squad still have a lot to prove this season.

Mourinho said: "In the first weekend, I was worried and I’m still worried with the big matches.

"I think (Lampard’s) done fantastic work, the kids coming into the team are fitting amazingly well with top class players like Willian and Kante - it’s really great work by Frank.

"But they lost twice against United, they lost against Liverpool at home, they conceded four goals against Ajax. I'm very curious to see Chelsea at the next match at the Etihad.

"I want to see if they have found the balance between the great football they play and the pragmatism they must have to play against top teams.

"When they find that, I think they have a great team for the future but I don’t expect them to finish in the top two but I believe they will finish top four."
