McTominay ROBBED of Man Utd goal as Brighton defender Propper taps his shot over the line

SCOTT MCTOMINAY thought he'd doubled Manchester United's tally against Brighton - but it went down as an own goal by Davy Propper.

The 22-year-old celebrated wildly at Old Trafford until he was "robbed" of the goal after a lengthy VAR review.

United were in cruise control after Andreas Pereira gave them the lead after 17 minutes.

Just two minutes later, McTominay bundled the ball into the net after a free-kick was whipped into the box.

The 22-year-old celebrated with his team-mates before VAR was used to investigate a potential handball by Harry Maguire.

After a brief break, the goal was awarded but it went down as Propper's own goal.

The official Premier League Twitter page posted: "After review, #PL Match Centre has confirmed the goal as a Davy Propper OG after the Brighton midfielder got the final touch."

In response, one fan said: "Ball was clearly on its way in already..."

Another Twitter user added: "I'm sure you know this already but VAR is killing the game."

And one fan asked: "The ball was heading in so why does it matter that it touched the defender? McTominay has been robbed."
