Gabriel Jesus channels his inner Diana Ross as Manchester City striker fluffs penalty against Atalanta
GABRIEL JESUS has been compared to Diana Ross after his shocking penalty miss for Manchester City against Atalanta tonight.
And it proved costly as ten-man City had to settle for a 1-1 draw against the Italian Champions League rookies.
There was controversy over the spot-kick being awarded after Raheem Sterling's free-kick was adjudged to have been handled by Josip Ilicic's arm.
This was despite the player having his arm by his side.
But the Italians will feel justice was done as Jesus fluffed his lines spectacularly.
He hardly took a run up before dragging a daisy-cutter wide of keeper Gollini's right-hand post.
And social media was awash with people comparing the Brazilian's effort to that of the music legend's at the USA 1994 World Cup opening show.
DIANA ROSS TRIBUTE
Ross was on the mic as she ran through a crowd of people, ready for her big chance of scoring from the spot.
But the lady in red feigned a few run-ups before hilariously scuffing her effort wide.
It was obviously supposed to find the back of the net - and the people by the goal decided to collapse it anyway to add to the ridiculousness.
Anthony Rubio posted on Twitter: "Gabriel Jesus copying Diana Ross’ penalty technique!"
Stevo J wrote: "Diana Ross would have scored that penalty."
And another wrote that Jesus put on "a lovely tribute to Diana Ross announcing her UK Tour."
