PAUL POGBA hopes to return to Manchester United first-team action by the end of this month.

The France World Cup-winning midfielder has been out with an ankle injury since the 1-1 Premier League draw with Arsenal on September 30.

, has revealed that his right ankle will remain in plaster for the next ten days, at which point he will begin a fortnight of rehabilitation work.

If all goes to plan, two weeks of solid training will put him in the frame to return in time for United's Europa League trip to Astana on November 28.

But in all likelihood he could be on the bench for the home Prem match with Aston Villa on Sunday December 1.

The 26-year-old Real Madrid and Juventus target said: "I will still be under plaster for ten days. After, I still have two weeks of rehabilitation.

"It's not easy to see my team-mates go to training or on the field, but I have to take the time to come back."

Pogba was priced out of a summer switch as United want a reported £180m.

However, Real and the Italian giants are said to be ready to come back in either in January or next summer for the £89m man.

Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane is said to be keen on a swap involving Gareth Bale.

This could ease United's striker crisis as they still desperately need a replacement for £73m Romelu Lukaku - who has just matched Ronaldo's scoring record at Inter - and Chilean flop Alexis Sanchez.

Sanchez is out on loan at Inter this season.

Solskjaer's side suffered another slip-up when they lost 1-0 at Bournemouth on Saturday.

They are now in their worst position in the league at this stage of the season since 1986 when Ron Atkinson was in charge.
