Chelsea boss Lampard sends Giroud warning amid transfer speculation

FRANK LAMPARD will not prioritise Olivier Giroud's international career over what's best for Chelsea.

The striker has been linked with a January move away from Stamford Bridge after making just four league appearances this season.

France boss Didier Deschamps has voiced his concerns over Giroud's lack of playing time under the management of Lampard.

The former Arsenal man has scored three times in his last four games while on international duty.

But Lampard has made it clear that he cannot guarantee the 33-year-old first-team football - if it is not the right decision for the team.

He said: "It is difficult for me and it is difficult for them - we both have our jobs so it doesn't feature in my thinking.

"I have care for all the players. I have to pick the squad as I see it for the best of Chelsea as they do for their countries.

"I have got three strikers to pick from and I have to make choices. Again I can't complain about any of their attitudes.

"Things will look different and that is where you need professionalism. Between those three I have had it from all of them."

Giroud has admitted he "doesn't accept" his back-up role at Stamford Bridge this season.

SunSport exclusively revealed that Crystal Palace have their eye on the unsettled striker.

And French club Lyon have reportedly made contact with the Chelsea star.

The Blues boss, who has guided his side to six league wins in their first 10 games, has admitted he will have a conversation with anyone who wants to leave Chelsea.

Lampard added: "I would always have a conversation with a player who says they don't want to play for the football club, whoever they are.

"That is something where I would have a clear and honest conversation with them.
