Mesut Ozil sends 70th birthday message to Wenger with throwback photo as Arsenal hell continues under Emery
MESUT OZIL sent a happy 70th birthday message to Arsene Wenger - less than 24 hours after he was dropped by Unai Emery again.
The midfielder has made just two appearances for the Gunners this season after failing to impress the Frenchman's successor.
Wenger forked out a club record £42.4million to sign Ozil for Arsenal from Real Madrid in 2013.
The pair went on to win three FA Cups together before the French manager ended his 22 year reign with the club.
Ozil shared a photograph of himself alongside Wenger with his 21million followers on Instagram.
And he added the caption: "Happy birthday! 70."
Arsenal also wished him a happy 70th birthday this morning - and fans begged for him to make a return to the club.
The 92-cap Germany international has fallen out of favour since Emery took charge at the Emirates.
He was left out of Emery's matchday squad for Monday night's shocking 1-0 loss to Sheffield United.
After the defeat, fans claimed the club would have never lost the match if Wenger was still in charge.

Emery has urged Ozil to prove that he still deserves regular Arsenal action following his shaky spell of form.
But the midfielder has insisted he has been made a scapegoat in the past for some of Arsenal's failings.
He was heavily linked with a move away from the club in the summer, but has insisted he will not be forced out of the club before his £350,000-a-week contract expires in 2021.
